Who is the SKIL 3410-02 for?
We would recommend this benchtop saw to those who want a reliable and affordable unit that allows for clean cuts. Typically from the SKIL brand, the unit has a powerful engine and a solid build – Overall, this is perfect for the DIY woodworker who works with wood on occasion.
SKIL 3410-02 features
Build – The unit is crafted from heavy-duty steel, giving it a solid and sturdy construction that doesn’t budge. Unlike other DIY benchtop saws, the 3410-02 comes with a folding steel stand. Now, not everyone will need this, but it will come in handy if you’re moving from job to job. Oh, and it makes the set-up quick and easy.
Power – Featuring a 15-amp direct-drive motor, the 3410-02 has enough power to rip straight through most pieces of wood. Essentially, the unit has enough power for your woodwork hobbyist. It’s worth mentioning that while this is a powerful machine, it may struggle with those large pieces of wood. Doing so would reduce torque and may overload the motor.
Blade & Rip Capacity – Typical of other table saws on the market, the 3410-02 is fit with a 10-inch carbide-tooth blade, which is primarily for ripping through lumber wood. With that said, you’re able to buy other blades, should you need to make different cuts.
The extendable table opens up for a maximum rip capacity of 24-½-inch. Impressively, the 3-½-inch cut-depth can cut through 4x material in one stroke. Both the height of the blade and angle of the bevel are controlled by a single handle. If you want two separate handles, then you’ll have to shop for higher-end models.
Safety – It goes without saying that safety is of upmost important. The SKIL 3410-02 comes with a few basic of safety features, but they won’t be winning any awards for innovation. Instead, the 3410-02 has basic features like the blade protector, riving knife, and anti-kickback pawls.
Set-up – The 3410-02 is ready to use straight out of the box. With that said, we recommend reading the user manual before getting the machine fired-up. The machine also has their quick-mount system, which allows users to start working quicker.
EZ view system – If you want precise cuts, you’ll love the EZ view measuring system. The system allows users to easily see the engraved measurements and align your wood against the self-aligning rip fence.
Portability – Thanks to a foldable stand, the machine isn’t too difficult to move from job to job. With that said, we would prefer if the 67lb machine came with wheels to make the job easier.
In the box:
- 10-inch table saw
- Carbide-tooth blade
- 2x Blade wrenches
- Heavy-duty steel folding stand
- Self-aligning rip fence
- Miter gauge
Typical of SKIL, the 3410-02 is an impressive piece of machinery. We would prefer if the unit had a dust-collecting port and a higher-quality miter gauge, but woodwork hobbyists should find it a worthy investment.
We hope you have enjoyed reading our SKIL 3410-02 review. At the end of the day, it will come down to your specific requirements. If you’re a woodwork hobbyist who wants a reliable portable table saw, don’t hesitate to check the 3410-02 out.
